For more than 1000 years, Kilik and Mintika were the Silk Route's primary passes between China and Hunza and today these scenic valleys and extensive alpine meadows, once closed to foreigners, are again accessible. Kilik and Mintika, two historic passes on Pakistan's border with China, have been off limits to foreigners since 1947.

The 1m-3m wide trails to these high altitude passes are a bit hazardous, laborious and difficult but easy to follow, with abundant flora and fuana, where camp sites are grassy, making this one of northern Pakistan's scenic enjoyable treks.
